There is no better feeling than a sense of security when an unforeseen circumstance or catastrophic event happens. That’s what Andy Phillips State Farm Insurance Co. is able to offer — peace of mind.

Andy Phillips, who opened the doors to his agency in 2013, chose to continue with State Farm for 45 years because of its long-standing reputation and client-centric philosophy.

Considered the largest insurer in the U.S. for auto, home and life policies, the privately held State Farm parent company boasts a network of approximately 18,000 agents positioned throughout the country and has been in business since 1922.

“The insurance business is all about helping people,” Phillips said. “It is an industry that has been around for decades. I am proud to be with State Farm Insurance for the past 45 years.”

Phillips brings to the table an impressive résumé. He has both an accounting and business degree, and earned certification from the Insurance Institute of America. He was appointed by Gov. Jeb Bush to serve on the board of the Florida Advocacy Council during the governor’s administration.

Andy Phillips State Farm Insurance Co. offers a wide variety of insurance and financial products, such as auto, life, homeowners, renters, condominium, personal articles, umbrella, boat owner, long-term disability and disability insurances; as well as banking and financial services, such as car loans, checking, savings and certificates of deposit. Phillips also writes flood insurance through the National Flood Insurance Program and Citizens Property and Casualty Insurance of Florida.

The agency is built on the high caliber of people who work there. In addition to himself, Phillips employs six agents. His wife, Connie, a seasoned insurance professional in her own right, serves as the office manager. Connie has more than 30 years of agency experience, including positions as a claims adjuster and auto sales consultant. All told, the staff has an impressive 131 years of combined agency experience.

The agency has seen great success and strength throughout the years, largely because of Phillips’ and his staff’s practice to provide remarkable customer service. Phillips is proud of the loyal base of clientele he has built. A large portion is due to referrals. By taking such great care of his existing clients, they in turn refer his agency to friends, family members and neighbors.

As with any business, there are always hurdles to overcome, but Phillips faces them with a positive outlook.

“The challenge is to reach every possible household to offer our services,” he said. “It is a continuous battle with relocations; however, it also makes it fun always meeting new people and building relationships with my current customers. It is so gratifying to help customers save money and yet provide one of the most comprehensive insurance products available in the industry.”

Many people may not understand the implications of why insurance is essential. Insurance is a necessary part of everyone’s life. Not having the proper coverage or no coverage at all can prove to be detrimental if a hardship arises.

For some people, the cost of insurance can be an issue. Sensitive to situations where finances can be a driver in making a decision about coverage, Phillips will sit down with a client to explain what the minimum state insurance requirements are for Florida, as well as any regional ones. From there, he comes up with a policy that is tailored to that client’s situation, what he or she needs, and what he or she feels comfortable having. Phillips and his team take special care to ensure that their clients do not have overlapping insurance.

In addition, he and his agents attempt to schedule annual meetings with clients to reassess the coverage and make adjustments if necessary.

Phillips’ clients can be assured they will receive personalized care and support during their times of need.

“Our claims service is No. 1,” Phillips said. “If a client does have a claim, we will get them back to where they were as soon as possible.”

To complement the insurance component of his agency, Phillips offers comprehensive financial services to his clients’ current needs, as well as guides them as they save for retirement.

Andy and Connie’s influence and support for others goes beyond their agency’s walls. As longtime Southwest Orlando residents, Andy and Connie are proud co-sponsors of local community activities such as Dr. Phillips Little League, Dr. Phillips and Olympia high schools, Dr. Phillips Chamber of Commerce, Arnold Palmers Bay Hill Club & Lodge, and Windermere Preparatory School.

Helping people, both in the community and as their insurance agent, is what gives Phillips the greatest satisfaction. In essence, he makes a living building meaningful relationships and ensuring the financial welfare of others.

Phillips refers to the State Farm mission statement: To help people manage the risk of everyday life, recover from the unexpected, and realize their dreams.

“We love people and absolutely thrive on helping others succeed in providing comprehensive policies that will protect their families and help customers reach their goals,” he said.
