Wayne Gardner, P.A.-C., earned his bachelor’s in medical science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He graduated first in his class from the Surgical Physician Assistant Program of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center, receiving the Margaret K. Kirklin Award for academic excellence. He has maintained the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
During his more than 25 years of service, Gardner has been a lecturer and preceptor for physician-assistant students. His expertise is in all aspects of cardiothoracic surgery, tissue banking and management of intensive-care-unit patients. Currently, his interests include the development of minimally invasive surgical techniques. He has taught these techniques to physician assistants and surgeons.
Gardner is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. He practices at the NeuroSpine Institute of Orlando.

Fernando Gonzales-Portillo, M.D., a board-certified neurologist, completed his neurological residency and cerebral vascular fellowship training at Indiana University School of Medicine. He worked as a professor at the Arizona Health Sciences Center at The University of Arizona in Tucson, Ariz., for five years. He then joined Osceola Regional Medical Center, where he developed the only certified stroke center in Osceola County.
Dr. Gonzales-Portillo specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of several neurological conditions, including migraine headaches, epilepsy/seizures, dementia/Alzheimer’s disease, movement disorders and cerebral vascular (stroke) disorders, among others.
He offers electrophysiological studies, electromyogram and nerve conduction studies, electroencephalography, chemodenervation with botulinum toxin, and nerve block injections.

Charlie Goodnough, P.A.-C, is a physician assistant at the NeuroSpine Institute of Orlando, which specializes in minimally invasive microsurgery of the spine; complex spine reconstruction; herniated discs; outpatient spine surgery; spine instrumentation and fusions; microdiscectomy; cervical, thoracic and lumbar spinal disorders; kyphoplasty; and spine tumors.
Goodnough earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Central Florida and bachelor’s in physician-assistant studies from South College. He is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is certified for advanced cardiac life support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Although Robert L. Masson, M.D., has a background in complex skull-base intracranial surgery, in 2003 he began applying brain surgery techniques strictly to spinal surgery, including artificial disk surgery instead of spinal fusion.
Dr. Masson graduated with honors and completed his medical training at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He completed fellowships at UF and the House Ear Clinic in Los Angeles, and was chosen to develop and teach a fellowship program researching complex lumbar and cervical spine reconstruction through minimally invasive surgery.
A diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery, Dr. Masson teaches surgeons from all continents and has developed several techniques and products for two of the world’s top three spine companies, which produce advanced products for minimally invasive spinal reconstruction. He has been featured on Discovery Health’s Impact: Stories of Survival and is on the board of directors of Golf Fitness Magazine.

Stephen J. Rosenberg, M.D., F.A.A.N., a graduate of Princeton University, received his medical degree and completed his internship and neurology residency in the University of Pennsylvania system.
After 25 years as the co-director of the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center in Orlando, he combined his rehabilitation skills with his career-long subspecialty interest in multiple sclerosis by joining Victor Robert, M.D., in the creation of the Multiple Sclerosis Comprehensive Care Center of Central Florida.
Dr. Rosenberg is on the teaching faculty at Orlando Regional Medical Center, the University of Florida College of Medicine, and the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. He is board-certified in neurology and neuro-rehabilitation and is a fellow of the American Academy of Neurology.
