Diamond Cove
 Brennen Frost of Diamond Cove celebrates her third birthday with a Minnie Mouse-themed party.
More than 70 guests attended Diamond Cove resident Brennen Frost’s Minnie Mouse-themed birthday party. Two days later, the 3-year-old celebrated her actual birthday with a trip to Walt Disney World Resort with her parents, Ben DeFranco and Jill Frost; three sisters; aunt; uncle; and cousins.
Dr. Phillips

As part of his Eagle Scout project, Brent Ziegler of Boy Scout Troop No. 6 in Dr. Phillips collected more than 5,300 personal care items for Lakeside Behavioral Healthcare. Many of the items were donated by members of Troop No. 6; Windermere Union Church, United Church of Christ; Publix Super Markets; CVS Pharmacy; Walgreens; and Albertsons.

 In honor of Boy Scouts of America’s 100th anniversary, members of Boy Scout Troop No. 84 in Dr. Phillips — (front, l. to r.) In honor of Boy Scouts of America’s 100th anniversary, members of Boy Scout Troop No. 84 in Dr. Phillips traveled to Ely, Minn., to participate in the Okpik Winter Adventures program at the Northern Tier National High Adventure Bases. Five adults and 11 Scouts traveled to the base after a quick stop in Duluth, Minn., to learn the sport of curling from the Duluth Curling Club. Once at the base, the Scouts camped on a frozen lake and participated in cross country skiing, sledding, ice fishing, dog sledding and more.

Ocoee
 Congratulations to Ocoee residents Stephen Richard Edward Adams and Corinne Annette Schuler on their recent engagement.
Stephen Richard Edward Adams and Corinne Annette Schuler announced their engagement. Stephen, son of Richard and Shirley Adams of Laurinburg, N.C., graduated from the University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering and currently works as a reliability engineer. He is pursuing his master’s in mechanical engineering at UCF. Corinne, daughter of Michael and Cathleen Schuler of Indialantic, graduated magna cum laude from UCF with a bachelor’s in journalism and minor in cinema studies. She works as an editorial assistant at Kearney Publishing Corp. The Ocoee residents are planning an August 2011 wedding.

 Sand Lake Hills residents Frankie Kazis and Autumn Thompson celebrate their engagement.
Frankie Kazis, son of John and Janet Timony of The Villages and the late Michael Kazis, and Autumn Thompson, daughter of Jerry Thompson of Kissimmee and Michele Bass of Kissimmee, announced their engagement. The couple reside in Sand Lake Hills with Autumn’s children, Justin and Skylar.

Retired U.S. Navy Lt. Cmdr. Dan Fanelli, candidate for Florida’s Congressional District 8 seat, attended the 25th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ambassadorial Reception and Awards Dinner in New York, sponsored by the Congress of Racial Equality. The Windermere resident has lived in the 8th Congressional District for almost 20 years.

 Winter Garden resident Jonathan Holmgren is accepted to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
West Orange High School senior Jonathan Holmgren was accepted to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, a goal he has worked toward since he was 13 years old. The Winter Garden resident, who was nominated by Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla., of Southwest, will report to the academy three weeks after his high school graduation. Jonathan is a member of the varsity swimming and water polo teams, and he serves as the cadet captain of WOHS’s Civil Air Patrol, holding the rank of cadet commander of the Central Florida Composite Squadron.

 Southwest resident Trey Nobles is promoted to assistant district manager of the Southeast region for PCL Construction Services Inc.
Trey Nobles of Southwest was promoted to assistant district manager of the Southeast region for PCL Construction Services Inc., the seventh-largest construction organization in the U.S. With more than 23 years of experience in the construction industry, Trey has been with PCL for 15 years and worked in cities across the country. In 1999, he was selected as American Subcontractors Association Inc.’s project manager of the year, and in 2002, he received the Robert Stollery Construction Leadership Award. He is a LEED Accredited Professional and graduate of PCL’s Leadership Course.

Southwest resident William Steele, M.D., founder of Associates in Dermatology, named Michael Steppie, M.D., of Southwest as the new medical director and president of Associates in Dermatology. Steppie has been with the practice for more than six years and is board-certified in dermatology, dermatologic surgery and internal medicine.
