Merino Adult Family Care Home - 7/15/10

Daysi Merino, owner of Merino Adult Family Care Home, began caring for the elderly more than 10 years ago in New York City, where she based her business on caring for residents of Creedmoor Psychiatric Center. In 2003, former New York Gov. George Pataki honored her home, saying the "important services provided within our community and for the contribution to the betterment of the public is evidence by the difference that Adult Family Care Homes makes in the lives of others."

In 2006, Merino brought her knowledge and experience to the Windermere area. Her 1-acre property and roomy 3,000-square-foot home boasts six bedrooms and four full bathrooms. Merino Adult Family Care Home provides a family-type living arrangement in a private home setting for up to five residents in private or semiprivate rooms, and short- or long-term respite. The facility's staff is committed to helping residents maintain comfortable levels of independence with the utmost care, respect and compassion.

Offered services include hygiene guidance, transportation, laundry and linen washing, medication assistance and more.

Experts in Personal Care

Merino Adult Family Care Home's goal is to help its residents remain as self-sufficient as possible, with the assurance of assistance when it is needed. Residents are encouraged to continue familiar homelike activities, while the staff pays special attention to their needs. The care provided at the home is one-on-one. This home-setting experience improves one's physical health and increases social interaction, which provides greater personal safety. The staff strives to support the residents' physical and mental balance, which helps eliminate loneliness and boredom.

Merino's residents also are provided a variety of entertainment, from the popular weekly bingo, Uno, computer classes and movie nights to visiting musical, dance and arts-and-crafts entertainers. The staff does its best to ensure that residents are as happy as they are comfortable.
