Bay Springs
Bay Springs resident Jack DeFeo and Jeremy Maloney co-founded Incredibeds, which offers plush, character children's beds, including a bear, dog and dinosaur. The company also sells custom-fitted Bedjammies pajama sheets.
Dr. Phillips
Ashley Bacot, risk manager for Rosen Hotels & Resorts and president of ProvInsure Inc., was made a founding member of the Advisory Council on State Risk Management. The Dr. Phillips resident was selected based on his background experience, demonstrated expertise and commitment to excellence in risk management. Ashley will serve for at least one year in the volunteer position, and his duties will include attending semiannual meetings and participating in teleconferences and correspondence as needed.
The Rotary Club of Dr. Phillips welcomed new members Gerald Barrack; Brian Moriarty, D.C.; and Olga Smylie. They were sponsored by members Rich Maladecki, Michael Hanely and John Skandamis, respectively. The Rotary meets every Wednesday at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club & Lodge.
Lake Rose Ridge
 Sandra Carrasquillo of Lake Rose Ridge is named Outstanding Hispanic Female in Communications by ImpreMedia, LLC, publisher of the newspaper La Prensa Orlando.
Sandra Carrasquillo was named Outstanding Hispanic Female in Communications by ImpreMedia, LLC, the No. 1 Hispanic news and information company in the U.S. The Lake Rose Ridge resident is a news anchor for Rumba 100.3-FM and hosts the WPRD 1440-AM radio show Mujer de Hoy.
MetroWest
Rob and Suzan Lamp of MetroWest announced the engagement of their son, Robby, to Julia Profaci, daughter of Vincent and Laurie Profaci of Apopka. Robby graduated from Olympia High School in 2004 and the University of Florida in 2008, and he is a financial analyst for Lockheed Martin Corp. Julia, a 2005 graduate of Apopka High School and 2009 graduate of UF, works as a department trainer in guest services at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies. A September wedding in Longboat Key is being planned.

Sand Lake Point
 Sand Lake Point resident and Boy Scout Troop No. 6 member Austin Almond achieves the rank of Eagle Scout.
Dr. Phillips High School student and Boy Scout Troop No. 6 member Austin Almond achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. As his Eagle Scout project, the Sand Lake Point resident completed an outdoor memorial classroom at Southwest Middle School.

Francelis Gonzalez, M.D., was named Outstanding Hispanic Female in Health & Medicine by ImpreMedia, LLC, the No. 1 Hispanic news and information company in the U.S. The Turtle Creek resident is the CEO of Kidsville Pediatrics.

Windermere
The Rotary Club of Windermere welcomed new members David Baer and Nick Delaney of Windermere, and Paula Zahn of Clermont. The Rotary meets every Tuesday in Windermere Town Hall.
Retired U.S. Navy Lt. Cmdr. Dan Fanelli, candidate for Florida's Congressional District 8 seat, attended the Memorial Day service at Glen Haven Memorial Park & Mausoleum in Winter Park. Also in attendance was retired Capt. Andy Mohler, former commanding officer of Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division Orlando.

Windermere's Parks and Recreation Committee, led by Chairwoman Tracy Mitchell, completed the Lake Street Park Pier, which stretches more than 100 feet into Lake Down at the eastern end of Fourth Avenue. Financial assistance was provided by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program.

Central Florida Women's League raised more than $80,000 at its annual Escape to Paradise gala that was held at Disney's Yacht Club Resort. The event, which was co-chaired by Sue Goodwin and Linda Pellegrini, included a $10,000 raffle prize, silent auction, entertainment, dinner and more.

Orange County District 1 Commissioner Scott Boyd of Winter Garden selected Jeff Cox of Windermere as the district's Orange County Citizen of the Year. Jeff, an Eagle Scout with Troop No. 6, installed a Sept. 11, 2001, memorial in downtown Windermere. The 15-year-old petitioned The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey and Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York in order to include a part of the wreckage from the World Trade Center in the memorial. The official unveiling was held in February as part of a Boy Scouts of America 100th anniversary celebration.

Members of the Dr. Phillips-Windermere Republican Women's Network joined other chapters of the Florida Women's Political Network at the organization's annual Tallahassee Days. The women met numerous politicians, including Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum; Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner Charles Bronson; State House Speaker-designate Dean Cannon; Reps. Kurt Kelly, R-Ocala, and Scott Plakon, R-Longwood; and more. Members also visited Florida's Historic Capitol and Florida House of Representatives.

Brownie Troop No. 700 members collected 2,717 pop tops to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities. The girls reside in the Dr. Phillips area and attend Sand Lake Elementary School.

Karl Rayan, D.D.S., received Dr. Phillips-MetroWest Chamber of Commerce's Prestige Business Award for Outstanding Dentist. The Southwest resident joined a group of 24 local professionals who traveled to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, to assist residents with their health needs. Karl spent one week working at a free clinic inside a rural church, where he treated about 1,300 people. Locally, he is actively involved with numerous charities, including Children's Miracle Network, Bridges of Light Foundation, Harbor House of Central Florida, Angels Caring Eyes and more.
