 The Ocoee Braves are named the AA Little League overall champions. Congratulations to players (front, l. to r.) Dr. Phillips High School received the Bob Berry All-Sports Award for earning the most Metro West conference championship points. DPHS earned 13 Metro titles for the 2009-10 year — men's and women's basketball, men's cross country, flag football, football, women's swimming, men's and women's tennis, men's track and field, men's and women's volleyball, women's water polo and women's weightlifting. In addition, six coaches received coach of the year honors — April Ball (men's volleyball), Simon Conway (men's and women's tennis), Anthony Jones (women's basketball), Leo Ramirez (men's and women's water polo), Kurt Wickizer (women's weightlifting), and Angie Yarbrough (men's cross country).
The Orlando Area Rowing Society held its annual banquet at Waldorf Astoria Orlando. The evening included a silent auction, dinner, awards presentation, senior farewells, movie presentation and more. Of the 83 OARS rowers, 61 were recognized for earning a GPA of 3.5 or higher. The women's Varsity 8 team also was honored for earning a spot to compete in the 2010 USRowing Youth National Championships in Cincinnati.

 Gotha Middle School’s Special Olympics soccer team places first in its division at the Special Olympics Florida State Summer Games.
Olympia High School's women's lacrosse teams celebrated the completion of their seasons. Varsity team awards were given to Carolina Castro, Rookie of the Year; Gabby Brandt, Mighty Titan Award; Monica Rex, Captains Award; Karley White, Coaches Award and 2011 season captain; and Elyse Delisle and Brianne Ferone, most valuable players. Recognition was given to Elyse Delisle, Brianne Ferone, Mary Catherine Kelly, Rachael Slocum and Ellie Strube, for being selected for the Senior All-Star game. Delisle, Ferone, Kelly and Slocum also participated in the National Senior Tournament in Baltimore, and White played on the Florida National Team. Junior-varsity awards went to Lauren Bauder, Coaches Award; Nicole Gasparin, Mighty Titan Award; and Kirbi Slocum, MVP.

The Keene's Pointe Ladies Golf Association held its annual 9 Hole Member/Member Tournament. For the third consecutive year, Kathryn Cook and Mary Rispoli took home top honors. Marjorie Barch and Sherry May placed second. Twelve women participated in this year's event, which was themed "Wild About Golf."

Foundation Academy in Winter Garden will hold a volleyball camp for girls in grades four through 10 from July 19 through July 21. Coach German Del Valle, founder of Top Select Volleyball, will provide instruction in volleyball skills and strategies. FA administrators also announced the appointment of Mark Butler as athletic director and David Baginski as assistant athletic director. Pop Warner football player Jeffrey Rose received Academic First Team All-District and -Region honors, and was recognized as a National First Team All-American Scholar. The Southwest resident traveled to Philadelphia for the Pop Warner 50th Anniversary All-American Banquet, where he received a $2,500 scholarship from ESPN and met numerous NFL players.

Southwest resident John "Lucky" Meisenheimer, M.D., founder of Lucky's Lake Swim, aka the Aquatica 1K swim, pledged to donate $10,000 to YMCA Aquatic Center's Scholarship Fund and $2,000 to the Lake Cane Preservation Society once the Florida residents listed on his 2010 "wanted poster" complete the lake swim that kicks off in his backyard. Meisenheimer's 2009 list raised $18,000 for the YMCA scholarship fund.

Windermere Little League Major Division players competed in the annual Home Run Derby. The winner was 12-year-old Cole Mitchem, and 11-year-old Bobby Head placed second.
