| Play the Moment presents The Pink Ribbon Project, a collective drama, dance and visual-art presentation, inspired by women fighting breast cancer, at the Orlando Repertory Theatre in Partnership with UCF, located at 1001 E. Princeton St. in Orlando, from Sept. 16 through Sept. 18. With the hopes of raising awareness and educating people about the physical, mental and emotional realities of dealing with breast cancer, Project is an exploration of what women and their families face when confronted with breast cancer. General seating is $20, and giving seating costs $150, with proceeds benefiting the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute by providing diagnostic testing and treatment for uninsured and underserved women. | The Osceola Center for the Arts, located at 2411 E. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee, will present the third annual Celebrating Hispanic Artists & Culture, a juried art show, from Aug. 26 through Sept. 26, with an opening reception and awards ceremony Sept. 15 from 6-8 p.m. Inclusion of art in the show is open to all Hispanic and Latino artists and any artists who submit work celebrating Hispanic cultures. Representatives of the Orlando Magic Youth Fund, a McCormick Foundation Fund, presented a $50,000 grant to Orlando Ballet School representative Juan Escalante. The money was given in support of the S.T.E.P.S — Scholarship Training for the Enrichment of Primary Students — Program, which provides free ballet classes to low-income children. Since its inception in 1992, more than 1,000 children have received dance training through S.T.E.P.S. |
