Students from Stoneybrook Karate in Winter Garden qualified to compete at the Amateur Athletic Union 2011 National Karate Championships held in Fort Lauderdale. Congratulations to gold medal finishers Hunter Bates, 5- and 6-year-old beginner kobudo; Brenda Bryant 18- through 36-year-old female beginner kobudo; and Monty Poston, adult male senior kobudo and kata. | The Windermere Wildfire 98 travel softball team went 6-0 in the 12-under Gold Division to win the National Softball Association’s Ocoee Ultimate Border Wars tournament. In the championship game, the Wildfire defeated the Santa Fe Inferno 7-6. |
