At the culmination of Orlando Magic’s final regular-season home game, Adrian Brumby was announced as the winner of a new 2011 Kia Optima. The Windermere resident was one of two finalists selected to compete in the on-court Kia Fan-Tastic Sweepstakes contest. To win the car, Adrian had to make two layups and one free throw, as well as complete a puzzle in one minute. |

During its annual Dinner of Tribute, the Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center of Florida honored Orange County Public Schools Superintendent and Southwest resident Ronald Blocker. The theme of the evening was “What Do You Stand For?” emphasizing the importance of unity and diversity in the community. More than 600 supporters attended the event, which raised money for the center’s mission to create a better society by combating anti-Semitism, racism and prejudice. |
| Congratulations to Southwest residents Casey Howell and Hilary Miller, and Ocoee resident Cory Bernstine, who were named to the dean’s list at Florida Institute of Technology for the spring 2011 semester. To be included on the dean’s list, a student must complete 12 or more graded credits and earn a GPA of at least 3.4. Founded at the dawn of the space race 51 years ago, Florida Tech is the only independent, technological university in the Southeast. |
