Laura Rodier, a Windermere resident and owner of the embroidery company BroadLineUp, served as a judge at the 2011 International Career Development Conference, which was sponsored by DECA. More than 14,000 DECA high school and college students participated in the event. Laura has more than 20 years of experience in marketing and managerial roles. |
| Philanthropist and businessman Harris Rosen, president and chief operating officer of Rosen Hotels & Resorts, was named Cornell Entrepreneur of the Year 2011. The Southwest resident accepted the award during Cornell University’s Entrepreneurship@Cornell Celebration, attended by more than 900 students, alumni, faculty and staff members. The Cornell Entrepreneur of the Year award is given annually to a Cornell graduate who best exemplifies entrepreneurial achievement, community service and high ethical standards. |

Employees from Lockheed Martin Corp. participated in the 2011 Relay For Life of Southwest Orlando held at Dr. Phillips High School. During the 18-hour event, which was chaired by Southwest resident and Lockheed Martin employee Jimmy Stewart, three teams from Lockheed Martin camped out overnight, as well as ensured one member from each team was walking on the school’s track at all times. Together, the groups raised more than $40,000 — almost 30 percent of the total raised at the event — for the American Cancer Society. |
