Each morning, fifth-graders on Thornebrooke Elementary’s 2011-12 WTES News team broadcast the latest news, including school announcements, Partner In Education events, important dates and more. The children also start each day by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. |

Ocoee Middle students and staff members kicked off the 2011-12 year with an eighth-grade pep rally on the first day of school. Students received their Class of 2016 T-shirts, which they will wear throughout the school year to show their OMS school spirit. |

School officials and local dignitaries attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Orange County Public Schools’ West Orange Montessori Charter School in Winter Garden. The school opened this fall, welcoming students in kindergarten through second grade. An additional grade will be added each year. |

More than 15 members of Foundation Academy’s 2011-12 high school Student Government Association attended a retreat at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. During the weeklong event, the students planned for the upcoming year, participated in team-building activities, and learned about leadership. Bill Baysinger, FA secondary math teacher and SGA sponsor, directed the activities. |
