Keith and Jennifer Jones of Emerald Ridge welcomed a daughter into the world Aug. 31, 2011. Kiley Rose weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces and was 19.5 inches long. Kiley is named after her mother, Jennifer Rose, and late maternal grandmother, Carol Rose Long. She was welcomed home by her older brother, Noah; maternal grandfather, Charles Long of Orlando; and paternal grandparents John and Joy Banner of Auburndale. |

| The Independence Neighborhood Watch held its second annual meeting at the Independence Community Clubhouse. More than 100 residents attended the event, which featured guest speakers Orange County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Eric Dahl of Sector 3 and deputies Steve Fortier, Sam Lopez and Melvin Spear. The sheriff’s office has received the necessary number of applications to begin development of a Citizens on Patrol program in Independence. In addition, Lt. Thomas Mulvey of the Orange County Fire Department spoke about the causes of the most frequent department runs to the neighborhood, as well as preventive measures that can be taken. Neighborhood Watch is co-chaired by Jose Gaztambide and David Green. |
