The locally produced Scare Zone — voted best horror film of 2009 — was recently released on Blu-Ray. Orlando filmmaker Jon Binkowski, who wrote and directed the horror/comedy, filmed the award-winning movie at Universal Studios using the 2008 Halloween Horror Nights set, as well as other Central Florida locations. In addition, Dr. Phillips resident and frequent Orlando Business Journal columnist Matt Durfee was one of the film’s producers. Durfee is the chief human resources officer for LSQ Holdings, and he owns two career-services companies. |

MTV’s The Real World TV show recently held an open casting call for Season 27 at Bar Louie Orlando on Sand Lake Road. The success of the TV program can be greatly attributed to the diversity of its cast each season. The Real World is the longest running reality series on TV, and casting directors are seeking people with strong personalities who are not afraid to speak their minds. For those who could not make the open call, applications are being accepted via email. Applicants must be at least 20 years old and appear to be between the ages of 20 and 24. Creagen Dow of Celebration was cast in a leading role in the upcoming feature film Amazing Love: The Story of Hosea. The film follows five teenagers who take a weekend camping trip, led by their church youth leader and his wife, and learn a lesson in unconditional love. The film’s expected release date is May/June 2012. Amazing Love is directed by Kevin Downes and costars Sean Astin, best known for his roles in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Goonies and Rudy. |
