Windermere Preparatory School’s Class of 2012 raises more than $3,500 to benefit Children’s Miracle Network. |
The Class of 2012 from Windermere Preparatory School held a Miracle Jeans Day as a fundraiser to benefit Children’s Miracle Network, a nonprofit organization that provides funds to pediatric hospitals. Eight WPS seniors toured Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies, which is a CMN member hospital. The students toured the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and pediatric trauma unit to see firsthand the care that child patients require. |

In preparation of the 2011-12 service year, Montverde Academy Key Club members attended the Key Club Kick Off Conference held at the University of Central Florida. They attended workshops and training sessions, including K-Family Relations, Creative Projects/Fundraising Ideas, and Leadership and Critical Thinking. |

Foundation Academy senior Samantha Hanley attended Cornell University’s Summer College Programs for High School Students, where she was enrolled in an intensive three-week biomedical college-level course at the university’s Ithaca, N.Y., campus. While there, she had the opportunity to meet and interact with other students from around the world, as well as experience a sampling of college life. |

| Profits from the sales of Rosen’s Perfect Pizza will benefit the Harris Rosen Foundation, which provides educational scholarships for the benefit of disadvantaged students and grants for educational, scientific, charitable and literary purposes. Unlike traditional pizza, Rosen’s Perfect Pizza is made with honey whole-wheat crust and contains zero grams of trans fat. The pizza, which was created by Harris Rosen, a Southwest resident and president and chief operating officer of Rosen Hotels & Resorts, is offered at 53 middle and high schools in the Orange County Public Schools system as part of the super combo meal. The meal costs $3 and includes a 16-inch slice of pizza, veggie dippers, a cantaloupe spear and fruit juice. |
| The First Academy inducted 45 of its fourth- and fifth-graders into the lower school chapter of the National Elementary Honor Society. In addition to special music and a choral performance, the students participated in the induction ceremony’s lighting of the candles. Each of four candles represented the NEHS qualities of scholarship, service, leadership and character. |
