Rural/Metro Ambulance, which provides emergency and nonemergency medical transportation in 20 states and to more than 450 communities, now handles patient transport services in Windermere, Winter Garden and Ocoee. The communities’ city councils voted to approve Rural/Metro as their primary emergency-services provider. Orange County government will serve the surrounding unincorporated areas. Previously, Health Central provided ambulance service to the cities. Under the new arrangements, Rural/Metro will assume about 11,000 annual transports.
