Bay Lakes Homeowners Association board members recognized Cpl. Sean DeGrilla of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office with a certificate of appreciation for his off-duty work in the neighborhood. Sean has worked in Bay Lakes since 2003. He also received a copy of the commendation letter that was sent to Dr. Phillips resident and Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings. |

Celebration residents recently participated in Founders Day Weekend 2011, which took place last month. The festivities included The Taste of Celebration event, live music, fireworks and more. Celebration was founded 15 years ago with just 350 residents. Now, more than 9,000 people call the town their home. |

Charlie Sanford of Glenmuir joined with Organic Matters Inc. to start a hotel and convention food-waste collection program in Orlando. Organic Matters converts food-waste into high-energy, high-protein animal feed products. Some food-waste also is diverted to an anaerobic digester, which creates energy. Remaining waste is then sold as fertilizer. Businesses that participate in diverting food-waste receive U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design credits, and the initiative counts toward Green Lodging accreditation. |

Cheryl Bellacicco was promoted to vice president, resort operations at Island One Resorts Hospitality Group. The Oakland resident plays a key role in homeowners association board management, refurbishments and strategic planning. She oversees budgeting for daily operations, as well as long-range scheduling and forecasting. Cheryl has been with the company since 1993. She holds a community association management license and has received a Silver American Resort Development Association award. |

Bob and Deena Adelson of Phillips Landing announced the engagement of their daughter, Wendy, to Daved McLouth, son of Mikel and Debbie McLouth. Wendy is a graduate of Santa Fe College in Gainesville and works as a senior account executive for Valpak of Greater Orlando LLC. Daved graduated from the University of Florida and is the office manager for Valpak. A Jan. 21, 2012, wedding at Rosen Shingle Creek is planned. The couple reside in Orlando and will honeymoon in London. |
