Stoneybrook resident Michael Lewellen was appointed vice president of marketing and communications at Heart of Florida United Way. In this role, he works directly with the president, CEO and board of directors to develop and implement marketing/communications strategies that promote HFUW throughout Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties. Michael has worked with Nike, Turner Sports, Fox Sports Regional Networks, Black Entertainment Television and Universal Orlando Resort. He also serves on the board of directors for the Garden Theatre, located in downtown Winter Garden. |

Stephen Richard Edward Adams and Corinne Annette Schuler announced their marriage. Stephen, son of Richard and Shirley Adams of Laurinburg, N.C., graduated from the University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering and currently works as a mechanical engineer. He is pursuing his master’s in mechanical engineering at UCF. Corinne, daughter of Michael and Cathleen Schuler of Indialantic, graduated magna cum laude from UCF with a bachelor’s in journalism and minor in cinema studies. She works as the assistant managing editor for Parenting magazine, published by Bonnier Corp. in Winter Park. The Wesmere residents were married Aug. 6, 2011, at Celebration Golf Club, and they honeymooned in the Caribbean. |

Windermere resident David Ruiz was appointed to Heart of Florida United Way’s 2011-12 slate of officers as vice chairman. In addition, the following Southwest residents were named to the board of directors: Val Demings of Dr. Phillips, John Fadool of Windermere, Randy Garfield of Bay Hill, and John Pisan and Richard Watkins of Windermere. Randy, who was newly elected this year, is executive vice president of worldwide sales and travel operations for Disney Destinations and president of Walt Disney Travel Co. He is the 30th community representative actively serving on HFUW’s board. |
