Richard Maladecki, president of the Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association, was a guest speaker at a recent Rotary Club of Windermere meeting. The Southwest resident, who is responsible for overseeing a $1.5 million budget and managing a 45-member board of directors, discussed the pitfalls of bringing casino-style gambling to Florida. Richard, a fellow Rotarian, is a member of the Rotary Club of Dr. Phillips. |

Southwest residents Barb Bowden and Alan Villaverde celebrated the 25th anniversary of The Peabody Orlando on International Drive. Alan is the hotel’s president, operations and managing director. Barb, who has been with the hotel since its opening in 1986, is general manager. As part of the anniversary festivities, Alan co-hosted a day-one luncheon to honor the 29 employees who have been with the hotel since the first day of operations. |

Corvette Club of Orlando members provided 10 Corvettes as transportation for Dr. Phillips High School’s homecoming court, as part of the parade that takes place during the annual homecoming football game. The vehicles ranged from a 1986 model to a 50th Anniversary Edition to a 2011 Grand Sport. CCO also participated in 2011 homecomings at Cypress Creek, East River, Lake Mary, Seminole and University high schools, as well as The First Academy. |
