Mark Cuffe, M.D., graduated with high honors from the University of Florida in Gainesville and, subsequently, with honors from UF’s College of Medicine. He was certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery following completion of his six-year residency at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. Wayne Gardner, P.A.-C., earned his bachelor’s in medical science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He graduated first in his class from the Surgical Physician Assistant Program of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center, receiving the Margaret K. Kirklin Award for academic excellence. He has maintained the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. During his more than 25 years of service, Gardner has been a lecturer and preceptor for physician-assistant students. Pete Indelicato, M.D. |
Pete Indelicato, M.D., heads the orthopedic sports medicine department at the NeuroSpine Institute of Orlando. He recently retired from the position of head team physician for the University of Florida Athletic Association. In addition to his 33-year career with UF, Dr. Indelicato also served as team consulting physician for the NFL’s Miami Dolphins. He has achieved many awards and recognitions throughout his career, including being named in Best Doctors in America for 11 years and being named Southeastern Conference Doctor of the Year for 2002-03; and receiving the Gold Medal Distinguished Alumni Award, New York Medical College in May 2008 and the 2008 Sports Medicine of the Year award from the Athletic Trainers Association of Florida. He was named as the 2011-12 incoming president of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine’s Sports Trauma Overuse Prevention campaign initiative. S.T.O.P.’s main goal is to help prevent athletic overuse and trauma injuries in children.
