Allie Schnacky, a student at NL Acting Studio in Winter Garden, was cast as Hannah Ford in Choosing Fate, the first film of Pathways the Trilogy, a series of three short films. Her sister, Ella, will portray young Hannah in the movie, which is scheduled for a summer 2012 release. The girls reside in Lakes of Windermere. |

Nikki Allen, a 2008 graduate of The First Academy, received a Chatlos Doctoral Fellowship in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Central Florida’s Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences. This honor is bestowed upon the most highly qualified applicants to the biomedical sciences doctoral program in the fields of infectious diseases, cancer, cardiovascular diseases or neurodegenerative diseases. The MetroWest resident received a five-year package that includes a $31,000 annual stipend, full tuition waiver and health benefits. |

Dr. Phillips High School juniors Cydney and Lyndsey Taylor served as Florida House of Representatives messengers for House Speaker Dean Cannon, R-Winter Park. The Sand Lake Hills residents delivered mail, packages and messages to House representatives, as well as offices of the Florida Supreme Court. The girls also assisted in daily committee meetings and conducted a mock legislative session, where they proposed bills and debated their value for passage. |

The Rev. Scott Billue of Next Community Church spoke at a recent Rotary Club of Windermere meeting about Matthew’s Hope, an outreach project that benefits the homeless in west Orange County. Volunteers provide basic necessities like food, shelter and clothing, as well as assistance with alcohol and drug dependency, and mental health issues. |

Palm Lake Elementary School PTA President Cynthia Schweitzer was the March recipient of the You’ve Been Spotted Outstanding Community Service Award from Chick-fil-A of Sand Lake Road. Cynthia, who has volunteered more than 700 hours at PLES this school year, was recognized for her work with PLES’s Kids Who Care club, as well as her numerous community outreach projects. Each month, Chick-fil-A of Sand Lake Road honors a Southwest resident or group who has been spotted giving back to the community. Winners receive a recognition party at Chick-fil-A.
