Event Chairwoman Molly Rose, along with members of her steering committee, has begun preparations for the third annual Keene’s Pointe Women Playing for T.I.M.E. golf tournament. The fundraiser will be held Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. at the Golden Bear Club at Keene’s Pointe. There are 120 spots open for golfers, as well as donation and participation opportunities for local organizations. Co-sponsors can support the event through tax-deductible donations for the raffle or silent auction. Proceeds from the event will benefit WPFT’s mission of technology, immediate diagnosis, mammography and education. Sonshine Volleyball Club’s 14-under team placed fourth in the Amateur Athletic Union Volleyball Classic that was held at ESPN Wide World of Sports, followed by two first-place finishes at tournaments held at Orlando Volleyball Academy and in Rockledge. SVC is a faith-based volleyball club for girls age 18 and younger. It is an AAU club, and all members must join AAU to participate. |

The Windermere Wildfire 01 fastpitch softball team kicked off its 2012 season with two great showings. The girls took home the 10-under championship from the National Softball Association Diamond Super Bowl Classic that was held at Foundation Academy in Winter Garden. The team then traveled to Lakeland, where it placed second in its division at the U.S. Specialty Sports Association Deere Valentine tournament. |
