Best Mom in southwest 2012

My mom is the best in Southwest because she knows how to cook, and she helps me with anything that I need, like my homework and providing me with things such as clothes and a place to live. If I did not have a mom like the one I have now, I would probably go crazy, because she is there for me in many ways. She always tells me to try my best in everything that I do. She even pushes me to get good grades and teaches me to be respectful and use proper manners when I’m around others.

What makes my mom even better is that she has a big heart and is really sweet and nice. These are all the reasons that I believe she is the best mom in Southwest.

My mom is the best for so many reasons. She has shown me how to be a mother, how to be a friend, how to be a supportive wife, how to follow Jesus, and how to give without wanting in return.

She has endured so much and has never complained. She has given herself fully to those she calls a friend or family, and oftentimes, her sacrifices go unnoticed. But to her, they weren’t sacrifices. To her, that is just what a mother does.

My mom is the best mom in Southwest because she is always hoping to work. She doesn’t have that amazing “everyone wants” job. She simply works at McDonald’s, because she doesn’t have a high school diploma or GED. She dropped out [of school] because she had me, and I’m proud of her, because she managed to get a job and work for what she wants. She paid for a car, her citizenship and much more. Sure, it’s hard, but she works for me and my little sister. It makes me feel like we’re her inspiration to work so much.

I don’t get to see her much because I go to school, but when I do see her, I don’t waste my time. We talk while we drive somewhere or when we are alone. At 15, I am able to tell my mom anything, and I love it when she listens and tells me what I should have done or I should be doing. Her opinions matter, because when she was my age, she didn’t have the opportunities that I have. It’s great to talk to her like that; it puts a smile on my face. I love her for doing so much for us and not even caring about what she does for herself.

My mom is the best in Southwest because she is kind, thoughtful and has stayed strong for her family. When I was little, she always took care of me. She made sure I had enough to eat and drink, and when I was upset, she would comfort me. I still remember cuddling up on the couch after she made me a glass of chocolate milk. When my mom had my little brother she couldn’t give me as much attention, but she still tried to make sure I wasn’t left out. She did, and still does, everything a mother could possibly do.

My mom kept being a normal, caring mom for six years after my little brother was born. She cared for two children and made sure her teenager made it through high school and got into college. Everything was just fine.
Toward the end of my fifth-grade year, my mom started to feel sick. I asked my parents what was wrong after the school year was over, but I was not happy with the answer. My mom had been diagnosed with cancer. It was absolutely horrible. My family was constantly stressed out. We got into so many fights, and my mom kept leaving for chemo. But, despite all that was happening to her, my mom managed to stay strong and power through it. My mom went through something really awful, but she managed to keep the family together and live her life. She’s a strong woman.

My mom is better than nickjr.com, so I wouldn’t trade her for all the candies in the world. My mom is as sweet as Twix. Her kisses are better than Hershey’s Kisses. My mom is a joy to be with, and I get more joy with her than from eating an Almond Joy. Time spent with her is more colorful than all the M&Ms put together. I can easily say my mom is a real Life Saver.

Not everyone is lucky enough to have a mom who is 96 years old and still able to lead an active life. Not everyone is lucky enough to have the companionship of someone who has lived through two world wars, the Great Depression and countless other events, and still maintain an incredible spirit of optimism. Not everyone is lucky enough to have a mother who is so caring, kind and personable that other women welcome her as their surrogate mom. I am, however, lucky enough to be the daughter of this 96-year-old mom, and that makes me the daughter of the best mom in Southwest Orlando, and, in fact, the world.

My mother, Anna Poggiali, was born in 1915, but she has the spirit and energy of someone born much later. Never one to shirk her responsibilities, she takes life and motherhood seriously, but not so seriously that she forgets to have fun and see the humor in all life has to offer. Whether she is sitting with her “granddog” Monte, visiting a nursing home as the mascot of a local singing group, playing euchre with friends, or just watching her nightly movie, my mom knows how to live. Sure, she misses her husband of 52 years and many of her friends who are now gone, but she continues to grasp for life’s rainbow.

What’s the secret to her longevity? Eat butter, white bread and a lot of cake. That’s my mom, and she’s definitely the best!

My mom is the best in Southwest because she’s friendly. When someone needs help, she’s there. One time, I fell on the sidewalk and skinned my knee. My mom quickly took me to the house. She cleaned and bandaged my knee. It made me feel better. She helps at the market, at parties and at home. No matter where we are, she’s ready.

My mom likes the same things as me. We both love rock ‘n’ roll. I don’t wake up to an alarm, but to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. We both love music so much, that on the guitar, she has me play loads of ’70s rock. It’s awesome to share likes.

My mom is grateful. She always says, “We should be grateful to own two houses.” One is in North Carolina, and one is in Orlando. My mom and I love North Carolina, and we think that being grateful is important. It reminds us of what we have — to remember that we have plenty.

My mom isn’t perfect, she doesn’t make lunch for me every day, and sometimes she doesn’t let me go to my friends’ houses when I want, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t the best mom ever.

I think Mom’s the best mom around because she and I have gone through a really tough chapter in our lives this past year. Her mom died, and my mom and dad separated at the same time. But Mom has always been positive and determined to move forward and turn the page. I love my mom’s positive attitude, and that’s what keeps me going.

My mom loves me so, so much, and she always tells me that I am the best thing that ever happened to her. My mom always makes me feel special. It’s such a great feeling to know that my mom cares about me so much.
I think Mom’s the best because of her personality. OK, sometimes my mom can be a little embarrassing, but that’s how moms are, right? But when my mom isn’t embarrassing me, she is so much fun to be with. When we are together, we are always smiling, laughing and having fun. We joke around and just enjoy life.

I love my mother to death, and I hope you love yours the same way. I never ever want to lose my mom. My mom takes up such a big part of my heart that I can’t imagine losing her.

My mom gives us healthy food. She always has wheat bread and will never buy a box of doughnuts for any reason. She saves treats for something special. She wants my family to be healthy and in good shape.

She always hugs us. Whenever I need a hug, she is the one. When I hug her, she hugs me back. Her hugs are not too gentle and not too tight.

Another reason I love my mother is because she shares with us. If she is lying on the couch with a big fluffy blanket, and we ask her if we can share it, she says yes. She shares her love, too. She loves many things and still loves us. I love my mom because she loves me.
