Best Mom in southwest 2012

There are not enough words to describe all of the reasons my mother is the best in Southwest. She does all the things I am sure most mothers do — making sure there is food on the table and clothes for me to wear, and just being Mom. But my mother is no ordinary mother, she is extraordinary. Every year, I have to go through surgery to build my jaw, and my mother is there every step of the way. Before surgery begins, she offers words of encouragement, assures me that everything will be OK, and says that she will be there when I come out of surgery. I know how much she worries about me, but she never shows it. After surgery, she is there waiting just like she said she would. Then comes the hard part. For two months, every food I eat has to be puréed, and my mother does it without complaint. She makes sure I am comfortable, and she even sleeps on the floor in my bedroom to make sure I am OK throughout the night. I know that it is a mother’s job to take care of their child, but an extraordinary mother does it every day with a smile on her face and absolute love in her heart.

Even though you might not still be on Earth, you still are always going to be in my heart. I’m thankful for all that you have done for me. You were my only mom and the best mom anyone could ever have. I miss your cooking, your humor and you. You made the best clam chowder. It was better than anyone else’s. I’m thankful that I got to spend as much time with you as I could. I remember you always said that life’s too short, so you should be a crazy, funky, awesome person while you can.

My favorite thing to do with you was spend quality time together. Nobody will ever replace you. I loved you more than anything in the entire world. People think that you’re gone, but I feel that you are always with me. You’re never gone. You’re always in my thoughts. I love you and miss you a lot.

My mom is caring. She takes care of me, my brother and my dog. She makes sure that we’re OK and happy. Whenever I’m sad or upset, my mom has been there to take care of me for 11 years now, and I’m very proud of her.

My mom is hardworking. She is the hardest worker I know. She cooks, cleans, drives and helps me every single day. Often, I feel bad for my mom, because my dad goes away on many business trips, and then she has to work extra hard.

My mom is also loving. Even after all the work, she still has time to be with us. She hugs and kisses me every day. She takes out my dog and allows us to have fun. Another thing is that my mom is fun. She laughs at funny things and makes jokes too. She always says this quote in Spanish, “Te conozco bacalao, aunque vengas disfrazado,” which means “I know you even when you are in a costume.” I love hearing her laughter whenever I’m down.

I love my mom very much. I know that I have to appreciate every moment with her, and I do.

Picture this ... you wake up one morning sweating, feverish and cold all at the same time, and who would happen to appear in front of you with a loving smile, Motrin and a glass of ginger ale? If you said, “My mother,” you would be correct.

My mom is the greatest mother in the entire world. She is there when I am sick, which isn’t very often, but she always has a keen sixth sense to know when I need her the most.

I know that no matter what I do in life, she will be there for me and be my No. 1 supporter. Even though we have our family time, my mom always makes sure my brother, sister and I have our own special time alone with her. One special moment I fondly remember was when our family vacationed in Arizona, and my mom and I went hiking. We climbed to the top of a mountain together and then sat, looked out over the valley, and ate lunch, just the two of us. She told me she was proud of me for making it to the top, but I was secretly amazed that she actually made it, because my mom is scared of heights and is old — she is almost 40. I know she climbed it to make me happy.

She works 24 hours a day and never stops working until she’s finished. She works like a construction worker on the biggest project. She cares for us like a killer whale; she always watches us. She helps me and my sister with everything.

My mother is the coolest person on Earth.
