The MetroWest Master Association, managed by FirstService Residential, hosted the 2017 MetroWest
MusicFest
, presented by Diamond Sponsor Girard Environmental Services, at MetroWest Golf Club. The free, family-friendly event attracted a crowd of 2,000 people who partook in a relaxing, sunny afternoon filled with multiple music genres of talented local bands and school groups.

Westbrooke Elementary School Teacher Appreciation Week


Westbrooke Elementary School celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week for its 2016-17 teachers. The themes for the week were “Out of This World” and “Star Wars, May the 4th Be With You.” Students expressed their love by dressing up, decorating classroom doors and presenting gifts to the teachers who made it such an awesome school year.

Windermere Earth Day Cleanup Event


An army of volunteers joined Windermere Mayor Gary Bruhn and Orange County Environmental Protection Division employees for the recent Mayor’s Earth Day Cleanup Event. Three different groups spent their morning discarding invasive plants and trash at Fernwood Park, Maguire Road and Bird (Egret) Island.

Bacchus Bash Photo Album 2017

Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association held its 2017 Bacchus Bash at Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets. The annual street party included more than 35 food, beverage and entertainment booths with more than 20,000 attendees. The festival raised more than $108,000 to support Central Florida Hospitality Education.

Best Fest Photo Album

The West Orange Chamber of Commerce held its 15th annual Best FestThe Taste of West Orange” along the shores of Starke Lake in Ocoee. More than 60 food and drink vendors treated attendees to mouthwatering samples.

Catholic Schools Week at Holy Family Catholic School … Photo Album

There was a “student mutiny, tug-of-war and race for orphans” during the whirlwind Catholic Schools Week at Holy Family Catholic School. The week began with an open house to give prospective students’ parents a look behind the classroom doors. Nearly 700 students, from pre-K 3-year-olds to eighth-graders, took part in a walk-a-thon to raise money for the Orphans Rising Missions. The school also hosted a field day, Crazy Hair and Sock Day, talent show, Virtual Career Day and volunteer breakfast that honored all the people who make every event at HFCS possible.

HapCo 2017 Jazz Fest Photo Album

Ocoee High School hosted the HapCo 2017 Jazz Fest, an all-day free clinic with jazz professionals. Twenty bands benefited from the tutelage of Bernie Hendricks of the Ocoee High School jazz band; Jeff Rupert, director of The Flying Horse Big Band aka The University of Central Florida Jazz Ensemble; and Scott Wilson, the University of Florida’s jazz band director.

Windermere Treebute – 13th Annual

The 13th annual Windermere Treebute, A Florida Arbor Day Celebration and Festival, took place Jan. 21 at Windermere Town Square. Families enjoyed viewing native, flowering and fruit trees, as well as an ask-the-arborist booth, food, artists, music, kids tree climb, nature education, plant sales, prize drawings and silent auction. The event is held every January, because that is the best time for planting trees in Florida. All proceeds benefitted the Windermere Tree Board Arbor Trees Fund.

Dr. P. Phillips YMCA Grand Opening

Dr. P. Phillips YMCARepresentatives of Dr. P. Phillips YMCA held a grand reopening after the facility’s multimillion dollar renovation. Dr. Phillips High School’s Class of 1996 Reunion

The Dr. Phillips High School Class of 1996 held its 20-year reunion, which was attended by more than 160 alumni and guests. The former Panthers flew in from all over — from Chicago to Washington to Spain — to attend. The event was coordinated by class officers Joel Barnes, Mindy Carrion Colon, Cara Kane Wieckowski, Joe Humphrey and Mike Humphreys. The weekend included a happy hour in MetroWest at Crafted Block and Brew, as well as a tour of the DPHS campus led by administrative dean and fellow classmate Riki Smith. Attendees then enjoyed dinner and dancing at Aloft Downtown Orlando. 💓

The Taste of Dr. Phillips 2016 was held at the Dellagio Town Center Sunday November 13th. Proceeds from this event was invested back into the community to organizations like, Dr. Phillips High School Scholarship Fund, Dr. Phillips Hospital, Dr. Phillips Library, Dr. Phillips Foundation, and other Dr. Phillips Rotary Charitable causes. West Orange Chamber of Commerce Building Business & Wellness Expo

West Orange Chamber of Commerce representatives held the Building Business & Wellness Expo in conjunction with a Business After Hours. The event was sponsored and hosted by West Orange Country Club. Guests were invited to take an up-close look at the many recent improvements made on the golf course and throughout the club. The expo was presented by Orlando HealthHealth Central Hospital, and attendees were introduced to the many business and wellness-focused organizations in the community. 💓

The Winter Garden MusicFest was held Oct. 8 & 9 in historic downtown Winter Garden to the delight of hundreds, of residents. A diverse collection of Central Florida’s finest musicians were showcased exposing the community to their music styles. Genres included: Country, Jazz, Blues, Americana, Classic Rock, Southern Rock, Blue Grass, Alternative, Pop, Folk, Classical, Opera, Musical Theater, Choral, R&B, Zydeco, Native American, Japanese, African, and Celtic.

The Dr. Phillips Chamber of Commerce presented the first Dr. Phillips Food & Wine Festival on Oct. 1, hosted by Eton Bridge Insurance and Financial Solutions. The event featured a variety of food and wine from local restaurants, live music and more. The festival was held in the Eton Bridge parking lot, with proceeds benefitting local scholarships.

The Rotary Club of Dr. Phillips Citrus’ Pints 4 Paws was hosted at Bar Louie on September 25, 2016. The event included raffles and giveaways, with 65 percent of the proceeds benefiting Pet Alliance of Central Florida.

Chef’s Gala at Epcot

Heart of Florida United Way hosted its 24th annual Chefs Gala at Epcot in the Walt Disney World Resort. The region’s premier food and wine pairing event, the gala raised $250,000 to benefit local programs that provide food, shelter and other assistance to thousands of Central Floridians in need. This year featured cuisine from more than 20 of the area’s top chefs, as well as fine wine pairings, live music and a silent auction.💓

Lion & Hornet Society Social Scene

Lion & Hornet Society members held their first fundraiser, a carwash. The group is made up of Bishop Moore High School students who are Holy Family Catholic School alumni, and they took their name from the mascots of each school. West Orange Chamber of Commerce sponsored its 14th annual Best FestThe Taste of West Orange.” Held along the shore of Starke Lake in Ocoee, more than 30 local restaurants and businesses treated guests to their most creative dishes, delicious desserts and inspired cocktails.
