UroGyn Specialists of Florida Welcomes a New Physician

Keeping Up With Women’s Health Care

Sarah St. Louis

Sarah St. Louis, M.D., joins the highly skilled team of physicians and practitioners at UroGyn Specialists of Florida.

As a little girl growing up in Winter Park, Sarah St. Louis always dreamed of becoming a doctor.

“My father is a surgeon, so I was exposed to the medical profession from a young age,” she said.

After graduating from Winter Park High School, Dr. St. Louis attended Spelman College, an all-woman college in Atlanta. The time spent at Spelman inspired her to focus specifically on health care for women. After graduating Spelman, she went on to graduate from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C.

Following her graduation from medical school, Dr. St. Louis moved to Syracuse, New York, to complete a yearlong internship in general surgery at State University of New York Upstate Medical University. She then moved to Long Island, New York, for a four-year residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. After that, she moved to New Jersey for her three-year subspecialty training in urogynecology and reconstructive surgery with Atlantic Health System.

Dr. St. Louis moved back to Central Florida this past year. In August, she joined UroGyn Specialists of Florida.

She described the past year as “the perfect time and opportunity to come home.

“I love Orlando. I grew up here, and my whole family lives here. I am so happy to be a part of UroGyn Specialists of Florida. It is a wonderfully supportive environment.”

UroGyn Specialists of Florida provides women with excellent care in the areas of gynecology, urology and wellness. The practice offers a variety of services, both medical and cosmetic, and the staff includes a team of highly skilled physicians and practitioners.

Dr. St. Louis noted the changes in women’s health care throughout the years by saying, “There is more awareness about treating ailments that used to be considered a normal part of aging for women. We now know there are actually things that can be done medically to alleviate or cure those conditions.”

One of the many services offered at UroGyn Specialists of Florida is vaginal rejuvenation. Procedures for this can be surgical or nonsurgical.

“We meet with the patient and review their health history and concerns,” Dr. St. Louis said. ”We then decide which therapy would best suit them. The patient may require a surgical reconstruction or may be better suited for a less-invasive procedure, which involves radio frequency treatments.”

Dr. St. Louis encourages women to visit the practice for “any concerns, even nonmedically necessary issues such as cosmetic situations. Sometimes there is a blurred line between cosmetic and medically necessary procedures. We try to evaluate the entire situation. We do consider all sexual wellness to be a medical issue. One of the biggest things I like to communicate to patients is that if something hurts, is bothersome or affects their quality of life, we are here to listen. UroGyn Specialists of Florida offers patients a place they can feel comfortable sharing their concerns, and hopefully it is an issue we can help them with. Not every woman’s problem is something they have to live with for the rest of their life.”
