With aging, facial skin color loses its lively, rosy hue and becomes more gray due to decreased blood flow. Facial shape becomes collapsed and droopy as facial collagen and shaping tissue decrease, and skin texture becomes less smooth. As a result, a person can look tired and worn.

The Vampire Facelift was developed for those who want a youthful, refreshed and rejuvenated facial appearance. This nonsurgical procedure harnesses your own blood’s healing and growth properties. In many patients, the procedure is done in conjunction with a dermal filler. The utilization of your own blood’s healing factors triggers new collagen and facial-shaping cell production, resulting in smoother, younger-looking skin. The effects of the procedure continue to improve for two to three months and may last for up to two years.

The Vampire Facelift procedure utilizes platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and, in some patients, hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvéderm in a specific way to sculpt a younger-looking face while keeping the natural shape. The PRP is derived from the patient’s own blood, hence the name Vampire Facelift.

The blood is placed in a centrifuge to isolate platelets. Those platelets are then activated to cause the release of growth factors that would normally be used to heal injured tissue. When the growth factors are injected back into the face, they stimulate the production of collagen, new blood vessels and new fatty tissue that work together to trick the body into “repairing” the skin that was never really injured. The result is more youthful-looking skin.

The activation of the PRP growth factors works over an extended period of time. After the procedure, patients can see an improvement in these signs of aging: A dull, gray hue perks up to a lively and rosy color because of increased blood flow. A collapsed or droopy facial shape becomes more youthful due to new collagen and tissue formations resulting in a natural facial “lifting.” Skin texture becomes smoother and rejuvenated.
